2005 Volvo XC90 2.5T cam timing question

Post by THannah696 »

I have been working on my 2005 Volvo XC90 2.5T Dual Variable Valve Timing Engine. I purchased and installed the cam holding tool and installed it and changed the front cam seals. Set the gears in the proper place and installed the timing belt and other components. Volvo was low on pickup but ran fine. Was driving it the other day and upon acceleration it sounded like a puff sound and the engine shut off. It will start and only run a few seconds and then it shuts off, no knocking sounds are noted. Took it home and checked the cam timing and it appears that the camshaft it 2 teeth off of time with the crank and intake. Would this cause a piston to valve impact or would I hear sounds with that? Also, I have changes the camshaft seals and front seal on crank. I still have an oil leak that is driving me crazy. Could the cam oiler be leaking?

Thanks
