Help, Advice and DIY Tutorials on Volvo's P80 platform cars -- Volvo's 1990s "bread and butter" cars -- powered by the ubiquitous and durable Volvo inline 5-cylinder engine.
I have had a lot of trouble with my car starting rough. The cause is fuel returning to the tank after i turn the car off. I first tried putting a check valve in line after the fuel filter, that didn't work probably didn't use a high enough quality unit... Now I've tried replacing the fuel pump, but rather than dropping the tank i cut an access through the drivers side passenger floor, pulled the pump out, and realized that this car doesn't have a pump in the tank. Its a fuel pickup (mesh bag lines and fuel gauge float. I already had a actual pump ordered because i called fcp and they gave me the part number, i didn't end up getting it from them, i got it off ebay using their part number. I also verified the pump i got off ebay looked the same as what fcp and several other sites say i need. Im lost wondering where my fuel pump is and where the one way valve in this systems is. So if anyone can follow that story is there any advice?
This is the pickup i pulled out of there.
