2000 Volvo S70 bad idle and bog out after subwoofer and amp

Post by Captain-Vintage95 »

I recently installed a 1200w Sony Xplod 10" subwoofer and Sony XM-754HX amp in my 2000 Volvo s70 AWD. Drove it for a few hours, not too loud on the system, when the idle stated dying and crapped out. Couldnt get it to start until I soldered two new capacitors in the fuel pump relay. Now it starts but fights to idle and completely stalls. I was told it may be the alternator, but the thing is i started 2 holes near the area of the fuel pump (didn't know thats where it was) to ground the amp with self tapping screws. I doubt its the alternator because lights aren't dim all electronics are working. I have disconnected the amp power which was right to the pos battery terminal with inline fuse. Any help appreciated!! Thanks!

Were it me, I would want to get eyes (or at least a dental mirror) on the underside of the floor plate to see where those screws wound up. If they went into a unibody frame rail, you won't be able to see, but I don't think any wiring is inside either. What about the two access plates for the fuel pump? Did you drill anywhere near there?
