2006 2.5 Steering wheel controls for radio not operatin

Post by gardel »

As the title says, the radio controls on the steering wheel don't function. However, when I press the Cruise control button, 'cruise' shows up on the dash. Since I did not have a chance to drive the car in the highway I am not sure if the Cruise control actually works, but at least the button does something.

So my question is: is there a fuse that controls these and could be bad? Or is the module?
Thanks in advance. I've been fixing little things on the car for the last month -bought it used 2 months ago- and have pretty much everything sorted out.

P.S. Let me add. one day I felt like not all the speakers were working, then, all of the sudden, it normalized itself and became louder too, of course. My car has the rear seat entertainment system.

I would pop the airbag out and see what's going on with the wiring harness behind it.

Thank you, Ou2mame for your response. How do I do that?
Update: Cruise control works and is illuminated. Volume-Seek control is Not illuminated and does Not work. I can confirm that.
Fuse or connector?

Probably the connector. There's numerous videos on YouTube about taking the air bag off its not hard. 2 pins from behind the wheel have to be popped with a screw driver. Obviously disconnect the battery, putting the truck on jack stands will help since moving the wheel 180 degrees makes it a lot easier
