98 V70 (and 97 850glt) Strange Readiness Issue

Post by MyNameHereV70 »

Hey everyone I have had this particular issue with both of my Volvos, but anyway...
After making any emission related repairs I will clear the computer and drive a couple miles and the MIL will come on. After trying to pull codes again at this point my scan tools shows no codes and that the car only has one monitor period, and it's ready. And I know that it is not the code reader because I got them both thru state inspection this way :). Anyone have this issue or know what causes this? Tanks ahead if time for any insight.

Take a picture of your emission sticker and post.

From the factory your car came with at least three monitors

Evap
Misfire
O2 sensor

Do you have original ECU or has it been remapped cloned etc?

After an hour of driving or so, all 5 monitors show up but as not ready. The ECU has not been replaced or flashed, ect... One of the benefits of buying from the first owner. All work including tune up work was at a Volvo dealer in Texas. When I can upload the picture I will do so. It shows the emissions as California compliant.

Hmmm. the EVAP and O2 sensor can take a few miles to go ready but the other three should go ready as soon as the car is warm. That is strange. What reader are you using?
