2002 s60 idler tension pulley size different

Post by Homebrand »

Hi all
Received a new tensioner pulley.
The size is slightly larger. Both width and diameter. However the hearing seating size is the same.
Internal size for bolt is the same.
Should it make any difference considering the tensioner is spring loaded?
Photos attached old on the left.

Thanks for advice.

Never mind.
It doesn't fit. It rubs the tensioner casing. Damnit!

Thanks Mike.
Turns out the alternator is making the rattling noise (it's not loose, it sounds like it's inside it)
Put the new serpentine belt on and used my neighbours stethoscope thingy to hear it properly.
Well, needed the new belt anyway, old one was cracking.
