96 850 low beams went out + signals, stalk?

Post by JimBee »

After dark, started up and drove a few blocks with everything normal. Parked to do a short errand, when I restarted the low beams didn't come on, and the turn signals don't work. I drove home holding the stalk for high beams.
Might that be a stalk failure or maybe (he hopes) a relay?

Or possible ignition switch, electrical part. I would fault trace rather than throw parts.

Put a VOm in the car and a electrical diagram so you can trace it next time it happens

Strange. I just tested it with key on and all was back to normal. I played with the key switch and it didn't seem flaky, but I wonder if I caught it just a hair off full contact last night to cause the outage.

OR might the relay be flaky? It worked right now, but after being on for a while, will it continue to?
I'm pretty sure I have another relay that I can test if it happens again.
I'll have time to test it further tomorrow.
