2004 S60 Electro manifold throttle module intake
I get a message on the message indicator saying Engine Power Reduced and the car wobbles to a halt or splutters . Its an intermittent problem and Volvo here in Chiang Mai Thailand are recommending a replacement at huge cost c. $800 US. Is there an alternative option to replacing this part? Most grateful for any advice.

Only the early 2001-2002 models were affected by the throttle issue, so your 2004 should not have the issue. However, the throttle still is prone to getting dirty which affects the movement of the butterfly valve (the round metal part that is flipping) . There are videos on Youtube about it . There is no need to remove it like in the video, only detach the air intake tube at the throttle and clean both sides of the valve.

I went through the same problem with my s80 and I was convinced I needed to replace my throttle body (which was about $650) but it turns out it was only a loose/dirty connector. Before you spend the money, check the condition of the connector. If that doesn't solve the problem then clean it like oragex suggested.
