Hello,
Anybody out there that could answer a couple ac questions about my wagon.
I just finished replacing all of the ac components in my ac system, with the exception of the evaporator.
Took it to a shop, had them pull a vacuum and make sure there were no leaks. That was successful, so the system was charged.
The questions I have are the following :
1.) Does the thermal expansion device next to the evaporator need to be reinsulateed with the black sticky tape or just leave it bare?
2.) I hear a quick chirp every time I turn on the ac, and it is coming from the compressor. Compressor is brand new. Belt appears to be good and snug. The one thing I did notice with the compressor, is that it appears to be cocked at a slight angle away from the engine. Does this seem right?
Some time, the chirp coming from the compressor, is a squeal for a second or two.
Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.
Scott

Well, creating a vacuum does not prove there are no leaks...even when vacuum holds for 1/2 hour.Woober wrote:had them pull a vacuum and make sure there were no leaks. That was successful
Whatever OEM used for insulation, is just fine...their engineers know what's best.
Compressor chirp is either AC clutch or belt noise
