98 s70 T5 Tires causing rim damage

Hey everyone, I've been noticing damage on my rims that has been getting worse over the last few months. At first I thought it was from the car wash that pulls you threw(heard that causes rim damage) but upon further research it seems my tire size is a bit off. I'm currently using P205/55ZR16W tires. I have a hard time making full turns and can hear the tire rubbing when doing so. Can someone recommend a good quality tire that will fit and not cause me any further rim damage?

Is that not the correct size for your car? Are you using Volvo rims or aftermarket. More importantly, even of you are using Volvo rims, are they the originals? The standard offset if I recall is 43mm. If you have Volvo rims pull on off and look at the back as they usually have the offset cast into the rear.
If the number is higher, the rim moves closer to the front spring and may be rubbing on there as the wheel is too far into the wheel arch.

This may not be a case of the tire is wrong but the rim is.

I just double checked to be sure the only difference is it does have the "z" on the gas door. They are volvo rims. originals, I don't know. I only started noticing this problem once I had new tires on. Kind of find it hard to believe its from my driving style because its been the same since day one. You would think older tires and hard turns would do more damage if anything.

I will check on the offset tomorrow and report back. Thanks for your time.

Where is the damage occurring? Inner lip, outer lip, both? rubbing on suspension components, or the body, or the road (11/10 driver!?)

Pulled off the tire just a few hours ago , I didn't see anything about offset.

If there are better tires I should be using that can handle hard turns without damaging my rims please let me know. I plan on using these rims and tires for winter and getting a nicer set for summer.

Also, mechanic told me clips are broken causing them to rub on rotors in the front. Don't know what clips he was talking about since I read this in the mechanic notes.

Is it equally as chewed up under the balance weight? Is the balance weight loose? Is there a circumstance where the balance weight could be forced to remain stationary while the wheel turned. That could conceivably shave off the rim and leave the weight looking ok. No other way for the weight to not have damage while the rim does. Unless the rim was damaged before the weight was put on.

Clockboy- Thanks for a more in depth response, it's much appreciated! The rim with the most damage is the one in the picture. balance weight says 10 mc 28. I noticed all the rims have different sized weights on them. could this be my issue?

My two fronts are now on the back. Those are the two with the most damage, which is leading me to believe under hard turning the weight could possibly be shifting causing this grinding effect. Does this sound right to you guys?

The damage is primarily around the weight, although one rim has damage on the opposite side of the weight. I have checked tire pressure- all is well there.
