Good day to you all! I am stumped on this one! I've done A LOT of work to this car, and I am ever so slowly getting it to be a functional car. It is a 2000 Volvo S80 t6 and the issue now that is causing me grief is that it has no power brakes, rough idle, black smoke coming out of the exhaust, and it will not accelerate. My 1st thought was the power brake booster and one way valve, but it does not "hiss" when you press the brakes (or "hiss" at all for that matter). I checked the one way valve and it is good...passing vacuum in direction only. I put a manual vacuum pump on the brake booster hose (with it attached to the brake booster) and it is consistently holding 14 mmHg. I suspect all these issues are related? Maybe to a vacuum leak?
Here is what I've done to the car since in my possession, pretty much in chronological order:
XeModex throttle body
ECT
T stat
New coolant
Rebuilt both turbos
New timing belt kit
New trans filter, gasket and fluid
Used ECU, cloned by member forum user doublebug
New catalytic converters
New O2 sensors
used cooling fan
plus various seals and oil cooler to try to find a post turbp rebuild oil leak (I'll start another thread on that if I need to)
Once the ECU was cloned, the car ran FANTASTIC!! For about a week anyway, then this power brake/no acceleration issue happened. Last recall, I had a few codes for O2 sensors (no activity on either front, yet Vida shows activity on both). I can clear and pull codes if needed. Also, once the ECU was cloned, doublebug noticed the MAF was quite high (around 28 and should be around 14), so not sure that has anything to do with it. Any thoughts?
2000 S80 t6-No Power Brakes, Won't Accelerate, Black Smoke
I THINK I figured it out. I had the O2's backwards (sensor 1, bank 2 plugged into bank 1 connector and vise versa). I swapped those plugs around yesterday and drove it today and all is well...so far. Even the power brakes work, which is mind boggling!!
