2002 V70 Power seat swap from'01, wiring

Post by skylonda »

I recently moved to FWD era ( have owned many redblocks) got an'02 V70 with a trashed interior- manual seats and pulled power seats from a yard 2001 XC70 and it appears that the difference is that they moved to a single ganged connector on '02 from the individual harness connections. Most of the sub-connectors mate up except one. Also wiring harness colors are not consistent, haven't been able to find wiring schematics for these 2 years. Also I swapped seat with battery connected and have SRS warning light- will buying one of the DICE/VIDA tools allow me to reset this ?(Amazon.com: volvo dice vida)
Attaching a pic of the connector that doesn't match up- will splicing these wires make the seat usable (this is driver's LHD)? On this one the harness has Black, Yellow, Blue and the '01 seat has Black, Yellow, RED

I guess your dilemma is that nobody has done this before and once you do all the work it may not work. Probably best to use an '02 seat but having said that if the hardware all looks the same it should work.

Yes Vida Dice will clear the SRS code. You're lucky you didn't have the airbag go off while fiddlimg with battery connected.

Thanks! I went back and pulled the '01 chassis harness ends so I can get reliable connections, but I hate to cut and splice up the factory harness....so might put need to find a seat connector from an '02 with power seats to put on the 01 seats. Seems like the scrapyards are full of only '01 models around here- some with nice seats
