2001 V70 T5M Shake on Highway Following Hard Acceleration
I have a 2001 T5M with about 167k on it. The thing runs great, and pulls very hard but I'm finding that after I hammer it to get going, there will be a pretty severe shake while cruising on the highway. I'm thinking it might be worn CV joints. The boots are fine but with that many miles on them I imagine they can be pretty worn, especially if the previous owner drove it the way I do. Is this a good assumption? Also, I'm only finding rebuilt half-shafts for the drivers side for manual cars. It feels like the problem is on the driver's side so I may be in luck but I was wondering if the diver's side wears out more often than the passenger side for some reason.
In my experience with worn CV joints and acceleration, it happens DURING acceleration, and goes away after I come off of the accelerator. Not saying it's not the cause of your symptom, but that's my experience.
Concerning finding a new CV shaft, First Equipment Quality makes new shafts for both right and left. Left: K4000457909FEQ
Right: K4000458421FEQ
Carquest also offers a new right shaft: NCV73531
You should be able to find the First Equipment Quality shafts at any Advance Auto Parts or Carquest location. They will come from Worldpac, so they won't be in-stock. The Carquest location MIGHT stock their NCV73531 shaft, but if not, they get deliveries 7 days a week, so it wouldn't take long.
Hope this helps.
