1996 850 Locking my wiper blades and dash cam setup

Post by MrEasyChillz »

Hi!

Recently I've been having problems with people stealing my wiper blades. I've lost two pairs of Rain-X Latitudes in two separate cities within the last three weeks. Is there any way of locking my wiper blades to the wiper arm, or just making them harder to steal?

I'm also interested in installing a dash cam that records 24/7 even while the car is off, preferably using a GoPro because I already have one. Is this possible? Can you guys make any suggestion as to what kind of setup I should make?

Thanks for reading.

With the luck you are having somebody will smash your window to take the camera that is trying to record people stealing your wiper blades. .

If they are going to keep stealing them buy a cheaper brand that no one wants and be done with it, the cam is surely overkill.

If you want funny, just put in a pair of steel blades (preferably Samurai) and weld them to the wiper arms, and then sit back and watch the Wiper Blade Wannabe Thief's face
Example of Precision: Measure with a Micrometer, mark it with Chalk, and then cut it with an Axe.

Rig a Taser to the wiper arms. Then use the GoPro to record that!

Are you sure your wife or S.O. didn't pull a prank on you lol?

Seriously, sit in the rear seat, sleep there overnight. Carry a cell phone with you and a camera to snap a photo of the suspect. Don't confront him/her, never know they are armed and dangerous.

Things are tough all over. Next they'll be chasing you down the street for your M&M's.

A friend of mine had this happening to him when he worked at an auto parts store in high school. He snipped two of the old Gillette razor refills (your original, great grandaddies type) in two (longways), and super glued them to the blade assemblies and spray painted them black. He also super glued a small wedge of plastic into the plastic clip that held them into the "U" shape at the end of those wiper arms.
He never found any blood but he never had another problem with them being gone either.

Enough jokes and pranks; and booby-trapping is illegal, too.

This is serious: A friend of mine had a similar loss-prevention issue, which he had sorted in a short order. He left an 8x11 photo of his Mom-in-Law on the dash...
Did not even have to lock the car

Illegal? Booby trap? I don't know what your talkin' about. That's an aerodynamic mod right there.
