Hi all,

I just purchased a 2001 V70 2.4T. My previous experience is with a 2002 Subaru Legacy and a 2001 Toyota Corolla. I try to handle most auto maintenance on my own to keep costs down, so this probably won't be my last question on these forums... :-)

In any case, in previous cars I have used a Cen-Tech OBDII scan tool from Harbor Freight to read and reset codes, as well as read live data from sensors. In my other cars, I'm used to seeing the Throttle Position at 0% when the car is idling; however, with the V70, it is usually at 10% or slightly higher when idling. Is this normal? I also notice that the idle engine speed fluctuates between 650-1000rpm.

My long range fuel trim (whether driving or idling) is +20% or higher, which from what I understand indicates a very lean running condition. I don't know if that's related to the throttle position at all, but I thought I'd mention it since it's higher than it was in either of my previous cars.

The only symptom I'm observing, apart from the scan results, is that acceleration seems slightly jumpy when at lower RPMs. Not enough to have me super concerned, but I wanted to put it out there to see if anybody had input.

Thanks!

Peter

2001 and some 2002 Volvos had Magneti Marelli plagued electronic throttle module. If you find anybody with DiCE+VIDA setup (Volvo scanner+software) you can do ETM swipe test and see if it's defective.
