Abs or VSS

My speedometer does not work i was told that i have a bad Vehicle speed sensor, but others told me it could stop working because of a Wheel speed sensor. I already replaced the abs module. Now should i replace my wheel speed sensors or get a VSS for my transmission.

It can also stop working if there is a loose connection at the back of the speedometer, many people have reported that.

Have you tried cleaning the reluctance rings (I think that's what they are called?) on the hubs? They can get super dirty e.g. if there was ever a CV boot failure.

No i have not tired that yet i will, but o forgot to mention that my abs and srs light is on

If you replaced the module but the ABS light is still on then either the replacement module is bad or, more likely, the connector to the module isn't properly seated. The hood must catch the pegs on the socket before you fold the connector hood down or it won't properly seat.

There is no VSS on the transmission on a '96.

The ABS module you replaced, was it an overhauled or repaired unit? Also on 96 850s the 4 wire harness that plugs into the ABS the wires have been known to shed their insulation.

And is it true that your VSS affects shifting gears? because my gears shift perfectly fine

And abs has been remanufactured and the wiring was replaced as well
