2004 Volvo V70 Rear Bench Seat Noises

Post by titanvolvo »

Does anybody know how to diagnose and disassemble the bench seat in a volvo v70 to trace noises and squeaks? Every bump in the road is a major disturbance and the baby is coming in 4 weeks!

It might not come from the seats. Might well be something underneath the car. I even found a plastic piece loose in the gas tank. I you could have someone keep a camera in the back of the car while driving, might help us giving more specific hints.

I sat in the back of the car, and when I fold the left seat back forward, it stops squeaking, so I've narrowed it down to the hinge area... Do you know if I have to disable the airbag system when removing the rear seat backs?

The are no airbag wires in that area to my knowledge. Have a look at the side portion of the back rest, these are attached to some plastic piece, maybe it got loose. As for the center portions there a a few bolts and a pin-to-hinge fixation if I remember well. Maybe some of the bolts weren't tighten back after somea fuel pump repair.

Try putting some white grease on the hinge and in and around that area first.
Most of the time it's external.
You really don't want to start tearing the seatback apart unless 110% necessary!
