2004 V7 2.5T How do I replace Headlight assembly

Post by titanvolvo »

Hello Volvo V70 fans, can anyone direct me to a manual or video on how to remove and replace the entire headlight assembly on a V70 2004 with light wipers?

Open cup at the end of wiper's shaft, remove nut (6 mm or so), press wiper's arm out. Release the washing fluid hose. Do the other side.

Remove 6 bumper clips, which sit under the hood. There's a torx bolt in a wheel arc, unbolt it for 1/4" and push inside the bumper: it releases a retention latch, which holds the bumper to the arc. Do the other side. Remove couple of clips at the bottom corners of bumper (I think there were clips...). Then you can pull the bumper. It is attached to the radiator's air inlet with simple plastic clips, so some gentle force is required. If you have fog lights, you need to disconnect them while the bumper is in air, so have a helper nearby or prepare couple of boxes to put the bumper on.

Headlight assembly has 4 bolts. 3 you can find visually, the last one, at the fender side, is hidden under plastic plate, which is also attached to wheel's arc plastic cover. Remove it (1 bolt) and you'll see the last bolt.

This is what I had to do on 2002 V70. For 2005 XC70 it is almost the same procedure, but I also had to remove 2 larger front bolts, which are hidden by the plastic plugs.
