Sorry to bring up yet another cargo cover thread, but i just inherited a 99 V70 with a dead cargo cover. someone already took it apart, and i see where its broken. if theres no easier options i think i will try to copper/pvc tube fix

my real question though: i see its taken apart, and i have the shell, end pieces, and the cover itself, is it even feasible to get the winding mechanism from a newer (01+) v70, and replace the cover with the 99, and stuff it into the housings from the 99?

I don't really have an answer to your question.

But I wonder if you could convert one from a P2 Volvo and make adaptor brackets? They seem to be much sturdier and not as fragile.
