Still working the bugs out after the head gasket change.
I got the car back together, found a few more coolant leaks, fixed them. The thing starts and runs perfectly. But will not idle after initial start. Good power, no white smoke, no codes. Then it will start rough idle and die, triggering a P0300- multiple misfire. Is it possible that the two cylinders that had coolant in them damaged the spark plugs? I was thinking maybe the plugs contacting coolant would repeatedly quench them and cause failure.
But it runs so smoothly that it seems unlikely. Also...the off-idle spark advance is 32 degrees. This seems high to me. Is it too high and does this have anything to do with the misfires? Does this mean I have the VVT wrong?
