During summer my driver's window kept sticking and would reverse if trying to wind down or up but holding switch would get it to close or open.
Sticky tree sap on the window ..... damned huge tree outside my house.
Now the window won't go down and I hear nothing when I try winding it down.
If I try winding it up then I hear a click and it seems to try moving so I think the motor is fine.
I've stripped the switch assembly and cleaned it and just the same ..... didn't seem that dirty anyway.
Is it possible that the window module now thinks the window is in the full down position? Does that make sense?
Would stripping the door and applying power directly to the motor to wind it down be worthwhile?
A new switch is damned expensive and then needs programming so I want to avoid that.
Worst case is I will try and switch over the passenger and driver window wires so that passenger switch runs the driver's window as a new switch and re-programming would be half the value of the car.
Cheers for any pointers etc.
