2000 V70R - How to tell if the angle gear is under stress?

Post by Bluevanacd2005 »

So I got a flat on my R. Bought one new tire, but I have had this situation go bad on me before... The other 3 are the same brand and model, and about 9 months old (maybe 10k miles on them). Tire shop said they had 90% tread left. Is it alright to put one with 100% tread on, or am I still going to ruin the angle gear? I thought I could run the new one a few PSI lower to help it out...

Thoughts on this?

Put on front and no worries. When front goes faster than back that is a problem. That scenario is what happens when you lose traction on prime drive wheels (front). When the rear goes faster that is fine as the one way clutch in VC allows for it.
