2004 S60 Timing belt effect on Power Steering question?

Post by Ricarondo »

Hello,

I am a new to Volvo since last month. I would like to know if the Steering wheel may be affected for having an old timing belt. 140K miles. I read owner's manual it states the Steering should be softer when the car moves at lower pace, and should be harder once you are moving fast eg. 40 miles/hr.

I noticed the power steering is hard to move when you are approaching to stop. Eg. During parking.

Thank you in advance pals.

R.

The timing belt is separate to the serpentine/accessories belt.

If your timing belt is 140k miles old it is well due for replacement.
I find my steering is firmer when parking. Not hard just firmer, but this is more to do with the dynamics of a tyre not rotating whilst moving the wheel or moving very slowly.
My s60 is not super light steering but certainly not hard.
