2008 S60 Power locks work fine but blinkers do not flash.

Post by AzorPL »

I bought my Volvo few months ago and my power door locks work as they should but recently blinkers stopped flashing to confirm that the doors are locked. Is it possible that somehow I disabled this feature?
Blinkers were only flashing when I was locking the car (one steady, long flash) but never flashed when I opened it.
Also, there was never any beep to confirm locking and unlocking. Was it ever a feature on this car?

Is there a way to turn the blinkers back on to signal locking?

Maybe the siren module is giving up. This takes care of the sound and has a small battery inside known to start leaking after more than 5 years.

Normally the blinkers should still flash when locking the doors, there might be something like a hood switch that doesn't close properly.

The hood closed switch is usually 'cured' if you drop the hood from at least 12" to close with a bang (ugly but works). Any other "open" input will trigger a DIM message and the "amber idiot triangle" (trunk lid for example)
I think the 'beep' responses (upon armed/disarmed confirm) and the two-stage unlocking are all optional (e.g. programmable ON/OFF activations with VIDA)
Example of Precision: Measure with a Micrometer, mark it with Chalk, and then cut it with an Axe.
Disclaimer: We (very) seldom do that

Slamming the hood fixed the blinkers. Thanks.
Now, to activate beep, can I do it by myself or do I have to see Volvo tech? I can't find anything about power door lock beep in the manual. Maybe it's not a feature on this model?

I don't think it can be made to beep

(Not that I find the beep so essential)
I may have to play with my VIDA some more to see if I can find a workaround to make it cooperate 8)
Example of Precision: Measure with a Micrometer, mark it with Chalk, and then cut it with an Axe.
