1998 s70 THE DREADED PO301
Hi every body! I have a 1998 S70 non turbo that developed a po301 code.It wants to stall out at idle low power... I changed the spark plugs and did nothing. changed the fuel injector and still did the same. Spark plug Wires were replaced not to long ago.. still the same! Last I did a compression test and it read 60 lbs! My Question to you, do you think it is a head gasket or a burnt valve? Btw The coolant tank would overflow and would go back down when shut off engine. Thoughts? Thanks

You need a compression test on all five cylinders
Cold
Hot
Hot with some oil in the cylinders.
It's easy to screw up a compression test and get bad numbers, too

Definite sign of compressed air (or mixture) going into the cooling system. Do the compression test as abscate advised or else if you run it like this you may blow a coolant hose and end up spending more $$$.

Example of Precision: Measure with a Micrometer, mark it with Chalk, and then cut it with an Axe.
