2000 s80 wont crank

So Saturday I pulled the Volvo forward in the driveway so my brother in law could pull in to the driveway, no problems. Sunday afternoon I go to start it and nothing, sounded like the starter was spinning but not cranking engine. I figured the the bendix was stuck not sure if that is what its called. today I replaced the starter and I have the same. Starter fuse ignition fuse are ok. Any advice on what I need to check next? Any and all help greatly appreciated, engine is 2.9 non turbo.

engine is now cranking but wont start. Any ideas, i pressed the schraeder valve on the fuel rail and fuel gushed out so dont think its fuel.

Maybe check the power cables near the alternator, sometimes they crack. The timing belt is in good condition? Try connecting the battery to another car, sometimes the engine has power to crank but not enough spark to ignite.

I swapped out the starter relay with a good one and after a few tries she came back to life. Not positive that was the problem but so far so good. Thanks for the replies.
