1997 850 AWD wagon - where to buy rear stabilizer arms

Post by ns122 »

Have a 1997 850 AWD wagon (Canadian) and need two rear stabilizer arms. Does anyone have a source that isn't cost prohibitive. Thanks.

Love the 850 AWD! What are you referring to as the rear stabilizer arms?
Do you mean these?

If so, the part number for the XC is still available and costs half what the non XC version retailed for and there's no difference. Otherwise you can probably get a pair from a junkyard like VandSautodismantlers - they usually have good, rust-free parts.

XC version has a different bushing on one side but is functionally identical.

Yea no I know that but I've compared them side by side and couldn't see the difference in the bushing...they also note a different part number for the spindles for the XCs but again can't see the difference. Any ideas or was this just a Volvo engineer back from the Summer break idea? :)

The rear hubs on an XC are different to the R or AWD. There is not a lot of visual differences but they are different. I bought a set thinking like you they would be the same, but after measuring the various location points they are different, just can't remember what exactly. I returned them to PnP as they were no use to me.

Is the AWD link not the 140 mm long rod with a ball joint on both ends? The joints are turned 180 degrees from each other.
