2001 V70 T5M Intermittent Driveline Vibration
2001 V70 T5M Intermittent Driveline Vibration
I have an issue with intermittent vibration from the driveline while on the highway. Sometimes the car is perfectly smooth and other times it has a pretty serious shake. The car has 173,000 miles on it. The tires have been balanced and both front hubs have been replaced. Everything in the front end seems to be in decent shape, but I have no idea how old the axles are. There aren't any noises from the front end on acceleration or turning. It seems that the vibration is more severe if I accelerate hard on the way up to highway speed. Is it possible that the CV joints are worn enough that they are able to get tweaked a little under hard acceleration?

Yes it is possible one or more of the CVs are bad. My wife's 2004 S80 2.9 174,xxx miles had a very bad shutter at highway speed only while accelerating. Had both axles replaced and now smooth and quiet. My 2003 XC70 has same shutter at lower speed but I suspect one of the aftermarket axles I put on is starting to go.
