Hi, just got an 02 V70 XC, 180k miles. Located near Detroit. Car drives out great, except when coming to a stop, idle surges once over 1k RPM, comes down and is fine. Ive been trying to take in as much ETM/ MAF info as possible. But Im just curious, this seems to go along with etm issues right? Has Volvo honored any recalls past the ten year mark as far as anyone knows?
Also, the steering column adjustment lever is gone, can this part be installed without removing the column?
thanks for any help
Nick

You don't have the Bad ETM in 2002, however it's 100K miles overdue for a cleaning!
Could be a MAF sensor, more likely a vacuum leak...(VERY possible with your miles)

The definitive way to look for a vacuum leak is to remove each hose, take it into the light for a visual tactile and audible ( blow while plugged) inspection.
We have dustbins of posters who " look" at their hoses, proclaim them fine, throw 500-1000 of parts at their cars, then say they are frustrated....all for 3 usd of hose.

Good news, thanks! I figured I would start with cleaning the MAF, but youre saying the ETM should be cleaned as well? Hoping todo timing belt and trans flush before winter, as the prior owner didnt know history of vehicle.
thanks

The ETM on your car isn't like the infamous extended warranty one (1999-2001) so take a peak at it to see if it's dirty.
