2001 S80 2.5 TDI Strange engine noise.

Hello,

Fried of mine just bought a 2001 S80 2.5 TDI. Runs good 347K Km (215K miles)however the engine makes a weird noise. He was hooping that it will be something easy to fix after the purchase, unfortunately after showing it to 4 different mechanics none of them were able to pinpoint the issue, so now he is concerned.

It sounds like the noise is coming from the gearbox, two mechanic said it`s definitely a gearbox issue the other was sure it`s an engine issue

He made a short video about the noise, I wonder if anyone would have a suggestion:

Car had a fresh oil change, does not matter if the engine is cold or warm or if it`s just idling or driving on highway, it`s just a constant noise.

Hard to pinpoint on high mileage engines. Could be a tappet noise or worse; could be a connecting rod bearing. How is the oil pressure?

We checked the oil pressure and it`s right on the money no problem with that.
