Well it popped up today .
"Fix Transmission Next Service"
I have a feeling someone is trying to get in my pocket?
It's driving like it's just rolled off the showroom floor . I've tried the reset twice & three times no go it's still there . Any ideas?

It may be an indicator to replace the transmission fluid. I have read an indicator is activated based upon the number of cycles the transmission fluid exceeds a set temperature, meaning the transmission fluid is due to be replaced. The dealer can reset the transmission counter when the fluid is replaced. Hopefully the car still drives fine.

Hi Bugeye,
I have a Volvo S80 2.4 non turbo 1999 automatic (5 speed gearbox), on 85000 km I have had a "Transmission Service Required" light and orange triangle, I checked fluid level it was ok, but the fluid was dark brown color instead of cherry color and also has a very bad smell, so I took 12 liter and changed it and than I took the car to dealer he deleted the faulty code, since than no more transmission light and the gear changes are smother especially the third which was a bit late in my opinion and jumpy.

You may find the new fluid will clean the transmission thereby getting dark again. Keep looking at the dip stick and if it gets dark in a few thousand miles, another fluid change may be necessary. Let us know what happens. Thanks.
