Volvo 850R Volans - original from the factory?

Does anyone know if there is a way to find out if a set of volan wheels are original from the factory or if they have been repainted/powder-coated?

With absolute certainty, no. Some repairs / repaints are glaringly obvious but if they are done properly you really can't tell short of laboratory testing.

Lee, do you know if original wheels were painted or powder coated? Are they subject to peeling?

I have a set on our 1997 850R, they are orginal, look painted, and no peeling. However, they are only 18 yrs. old, we'll see how they do in the long run.
