s60 2007 - clear codes fires won't run

Help,
My 2007 s60 had the battery drained.
Then I used a key to open trunk & charged battery
(causing alarm to go off using ignition key to turn off alarm)
disconnect battery & charge (battery was too dead to keep alarm off before charge)
car fine started up fine...
I used a innova (i3100) code reader to clear any remaining codes
(i turned off the ignition the removed reader & shutdown reader, no off before removal? weird)
now without opening the hood the car fires clearly but will not run.
alarm issue?
Disconnecting battery for 30 min see what happens (cross fingers) & strangly that reset did the trick!
