I recently went to Advance Auto and the following codes popped up for my 94 850 Turbo.
P 0402 EGR Flow Excessive
P 1417 Manf Ctrl Aux Emission Ctrls
P 0326 Knock Sensor 1 Ckt Range/Perf, Bank 1 or Sensor 1
P 1505 Manf Veh Spd, Idle Spd Ctrl, Aux Inputs
P 1507 Manf Veh Spd, Idle Spd Ctrl, Aux Inputs
I replaced the EGR and would like to know where the main problem lies & how can I fix it. I'm not aan experienced person but it seems to be either an MAF Sensor problem because the car will not idle smoothly without high revs (2,000 - 3,000 RPM).
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks so much & I love this car !!!!

You were able to read your '94 850 diagnostic codes at AutoZone? It has an OBD port? I would again read your codes from the black diagnostic boxes under your hood and see what the Volvo specific codes are. I'm a bit surprised as I've never seen a '94 with an OBD port.
This shows you where the diagnostic boxes are:

This shows you the diagnostic codes for Transmission/Engine, etc:

I have a 94 850 as well, the OBD port is in front of the gear shift, to me it looks like a coin holder but you can pop it off and below it is the port where the reader plugs into it.MadeInJapan wrote:You were able to read your '94 850 diagnostic codes at AutoZone? I too have a 94 854T and it also has an OBD II port although I have never used it, just use the diag...box under the hood.

Interesting...had heard of a few '95's with OBD-II ports, but not '94's.

Dear Everyone:
This is not the official OBDII/Code reader post.
As an update, I replaced the Idle Speed Motor and finally the MAF Sensor. When the MAF was replaced, the CEL light went out and now only the service light is on. I am taking the car to an auto mechanic in Atlanta close to our house to find out why it still won't idle normally. My best guess is that a vacuum hose is misconnected when I replaced the EGR. You must remove a lot of hoses and other devices to do this and I must have done something wrong although everything seems to be in it's proper place.
Will keep eevryone updated.
