WTB - 98 V70 rear driveshaft

Post by benpineapple »

Bought my V70 a year and a half ago from a friend who needed the cash. Got it on the cheap, didn't take it to my mechanic first (big mistake).

Anyways, I'm looking for the rear driveshaft, can't find one at local scrapyards. Got pummeled by snow in MI this week, starting to realize I need it.

Thanks!

You can try car-part.com and search for a driveshaft. I have been fortunate to get a decent one for my car and my wife's Subie. You can negotiate with some of the yards. there is a place in Tennessee that is reasonable. Also...what's wrong with your drive shaft?

There is probably a good reason why your driveshaft is missing. Do you have any history on this car as far as maintenance and repairs on the AWD system? Was the AWD abused or well maintained? If you are really lucky, then it is really only the driveshaft that's the problem, but...

If the car has more than 100k then either the angle gear or viscous coupler may have failed (or both) in which case you will have to invest a little more (a lot more actually) to get it working again. Just be prepared.

In any case, you will find out once you install a driveshaft and drive the car. Good luck!
