I know there have been several post on what these switches control and such. Mine died after a battery disconnect and reconnect. Pretty sure it's a bad capacitor on the board...at some point I may try to replace them and see if that fixes the switch.
My question is, can a switch from another V70 be installed and reprogramed to work? My dealer is telling me that it's a one time deal. Once the switch is programed for the car it can't be reprogramed to work with another. If true...I'll have to purchase a new switch and have them program it.
Any info will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Ed

Ed - are we talking about a switch on the door or a switchblade type key fob used to unlock the car ??
The first is just a mechanical, the latter has to be programmed in VIDA from 1999 on..

Thanks for the reply abscate
This is the Electronic window/lock switch on the door.
What I need to know is if a used switch can be reprogramed with VIDA to work on my car.
I think a new switch is almost 500 dollars and then has to be programed.

Sorry I didn't respond to Ed
The switch on the P2 models is fully electronic and is listed as part number
31334466 $414 (SEP 2019)
FCP says it may require programming to work on install.

Yes, it's plug n play. Get the same PN as in your vehicle. Make sure the battery is disconnected prior to removal of old unit and install of junkyard unit. Follow battery reconnect procedure.
There is no need for a new switch or going to the dealer!
