Has anyone tried to use this 10-in-one tool to reset the SRS light on a 1996 850 Turbo, and is there another cheaper way to do it?

Haven't tried it, don't know about that one.

Cheapest easy way to reset SRS yourself is VOL-FCR and the PC laptop you already own (obviously not the cheapest if you don't have a laptop

). You only have to pay about $15 for a cable.

There are also code readers that can do it but they are not cheap. Unless you can borrow one, then it might be free to reset it!

Unfortunately I don't know this unit, and it doesn't say what Volvos it works for. Might want to find out if it is suitable for your needs, as 98 and older use a different software. Erik's suggestion is good, and there is a section for the tools on that. There are some of the cables that can be bought that come with the vol-fcr software and then can be fixed from a laptop. There are some free versions also.

I have a tool for this I bought in the UK, but they are very hard to find and expensive.

Another potentially cheaper way compared to the 10-in-1 tool is: volvo850diag / Realterm / IE / Windows and a KWPD3B0-capable ELM327 tool.

On 2016-01-22 someone used volvo850diag (free) / Realterm (free) / IE8-WinXP ($??) and a ScanTool.net OBDLink SX (~$30) to reset an 850's SRS DTC 07 -- otherwise known as "SRS-222 -- Passenger Airbag open circuit (in SRS harness, connector, or airbag)".

The jonesrh.info server logs indicate that SRS DTC was successfully cleared, then remained cleared till ~2 minutes later when the SRS DTCs were read again during the Read All DTCs function.

volvo850diag should also work with Win7/IE11, Win8.1/IE??, Win10/IE??.
