94 850 trip computer mystery solved

After an RN and manual swap my trip computer didn't work- today I replaced the s60 coolant level sensor with an 850 one- I had swapped the coolant bottle along with the power steering reservoir - and now it works- so for some reason the trip computer speaks to or with the coolant level dongle
