2005 XC90 T6 high transmission temp (192*F)? Or is Torque lying to me?

Post by 16Victor »

Hooked up my recently acquired 2005 XC90 T6 to my Torque app and configured a transmission temperature gauge, in addition to an engine temp gauge.

Tranny reads 192 deg F! With ambient temps hovering around freezing. That's scary especially with the 4T65E's reputation.

Oddly, It tracks closely to coolant temp. Not exactly but within 2 deg (after fully warmed up...didn't log when during warmup).

First, for the T6/4T65E, can anyone verify if this is near normal? (I'm guessing not.)

If not, I'm hard pressed to believe the tranny has issues since it shifts OK, the fluid is new looking, and the PO for the previous 25,000 miles claims it's performed perfectly and no work has been done on it under his ownership. He's my brother-in-law.

Conclusion: I'm thinking I am displaying the wrong PID. I'm logging Transmission Temperature (Method 1) PID: fe1805

Need help confirming my suspicion, or pointing me to a different PID to configure.

TIA,

Ron

If you track it with Vida/Dice it is closely tied to engine temps also.
