2007 V70 2.5t P0600 & P0683, Anti-skid and service transmission errors

Post by zanzabar »

Just this morning got a anti-skid system error and transmission would not supply full engine power to the wheels. Pulled over and turned engine off, restarted and drove normally except "service transmission" warning came up on the dash. Drove across my small town and back seemingly normally, about 6-8 miles total. Scanned the codes and got P0683 and P0600. Cleared them with my generic scan tool and CEL went away. Not entirely sure where to start looking but I guess I'll need to find a Vida-Dice to start scanning individual modules.

Any ideas?

Hang tight and see if they come back. I believe those are TCM communication error codes so proceed slowly in troubleshooting.

Keep the scan tool in the car if you can, and log the occurrences on dates/miles/weather (I know, its always sunny)

Check with the dealer. Not sure if it affected the FWD cars too, but there was a software update due to issues of the system throwing false errors as it was too sensitive. I had to have this done on our 06 XC70. That is not to say it is not a pre-warning of a genuine issue.

Don't think this could be a cause of the error codes, but who knows. This whole thing coincided with me getting a bluetooth OBD2 reader and playing with the Torque Pro app to read some real time data on engine and transmission sensors. One of the sensors I was monitoring was transmission temp. I had the car idling for about 15 minutes while I was playing with it and I did notice that it got very hot - I don't remember exact values but they were much hotter than I expected. I think coolant temp read 220 degrees and trans temp was up to 240 or something. At the time I figured it was an error and just had to do some calibration. It was following a short drive around town, I parked turned the car off, came back 5 mins later and started it up again and idled for about 15 minutes.

Could my codes have resulted from the possible overheat? This thread seems to indicate it could have.

240 Farenheit is 115 Celsius. This is not an overheat and quite normal.

I would put my money on the ELM327 causing this.

I have a 2009 C30 R desig and a 2013 s60 both have issues with these Elm327 obd2 adapters. if left in the vehicle while it is running or driving it causes major issues in the system. abs faults, antiskid faults, check engine, severe engine service required etc. Anyone know a way to stop this issue from happening?"
