computer reset procedure

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

computer reset procedure

Post by soultekk »

I hope I explain this correctly..I bought a 2000 s80 used from a tow yard, as one of their mechanics tried giving the car a jump it wouldn't start, the starter only clicked..I fiqure it was the starter that was faulty, bought the car, towed it home, replaced the starter went to start the car and it started but ran like it was cutting out, all of the lights were lit on the dash incl.abs, brakes, check engine, serice soon, oil, so being I had no clue had it towed to a shop, which in turn, towed it to a volvo specialty shop.the mechanic there did a diagnose said the problem was the computer and replacing would be 1,200$, I told him to not to, towed it back to the 1st shop where he'd do the replacement 600$ Idk how he learnd, about reseting the computer but showed me to disconnect the negative cable..so this is wat I've been doing....I unlock drivers door, put key in ignition (with drivers door open)turn the key to start, only one time turn, the dash lights light up but the car won't make a sound and won't start..now I go to the trunk, open and disconnect the negative cable, off then back on with only seconds between on and off...I go put in the key and then turn, and she starts and runs good..all the dash warning lights go out and everything is good until I turn the car off. Now I have to repeat the procedure again everytime I start the car..I've been doing this for a couple of months but now I disconnected the neg.cable and it didn't fix the problem, the car would start but was cutting out bad, dash warning lights all lit..I'm reading about this procedure and don't kno wat is ment by key position ll,meaning put in the key and turn two clicks? and does this procedure fix it this time for good so I don't have to remove the neg cable everytime? Or for how long? Please explain in exact increments ok? Thank u [email protected] or text my phone 1 (510)478-2244

Xemodex is a company that specializes in rebuilding ETMs for Volvo. Lots of people have bought their products and seem satisfied with them. Apparently an upgrade from OEM due to the techniques applied. If you google the name, lots comes up. Good luck,

LOL I hear the S80s will also respond if you start them on a full moon, perform a Cherokee rain dance, have the car blessed by a Catholic priest and only attempt to start them while eating Dorritos

Seriously if you want to have this fixed without throwing money away get a Vida/Dice diagnostic system from here:
http://s.aliexpress.com/vIfMB73Y
and read the car and post up a screen capture of the fault list. We'll suggest the next step and how to perform it.
