Ok. My T5R has developed a slight puff of blue smoke when the car has been idling for 5-10 mins and revs are given. I suspect turbo seals, car has 220k and has PCV system serviced at 200k. Turbo holds boost, no check engine light. Compression is 155 warmed psi across the board except cyl #2 145.
I'm using Castrol 10w40 conventional oil.
Where do i start looking?
Blue smoke out tail pipe when rev'd

If the blue smoke is minimal and only occurring after periods of stationary idle, I would not be worrying about it personally.
It could perhaps be down to the valve stem seals ???
The cylinder compressions are reasonable for the motors mileage and consistent. The lower one is only 10psi out which is not out of the norm.
Have you noticed that your using excessive oil between changes?
Maybe try a semi-synthetic oil and note any change?

Valve stem seals or turbo. You should ONLY use full synthetic oil with a turbo car. Also, the owners manual suggest that you should NOT allow these cars to idle. They will smoke.
If it's the turbo, it will get worse pretty fast. If it's the valve stem seals, it may not get worse anytime soon.

Switch to full synth oil, I run Mobil 1 0W-40, but I remeber in the states M1 is rather 0W-30. This will Keep the turbo in good shape, especially in the SoCal heat.
My guess would be valve stem seals. On my 854 NA I´ve had bad valve stem seals ever since I bought it from the first owner 5 years and 60.000 miles ago. It burns some oil, but as Long as I can refill i´´m not messing with that on the grocery getter.

Switch to synthetic per above. Ignore the internet dreck about " your seals will start leaking"

Ok. Thanks for all your advice. I will switch to synthetic and see how she does. I did find oil residue on my turbo inlet tube. I'll try to check the turbo inlet for play
If I have to replace my 15g turbo I'd like to change to a 16 since I don't wanna mess with ECU tuning yet.
I know the T5R has a conical flange . what do I need to install a 16g to my T5R.
Thanks for the advice

If it was residue that wiped up with a paper towel, thats normal. Leave it alone and happy driving.
Take a peek in the Performance Forum down below for hints on that turbo swap

You would just keep the exhaust housing from your 15g, use it on whatever turbo you put in. All you need is a turbo, with or without exhaust housing, just use the part you need (the turbo body).
I haven't seen compelling arguments to go to the 16g, everyone says the low end spools up like a dog compared to the 15g. But I have never driven one ...

Yes, from what I've heard, you only need to replace the compressor housing, really. You can keep the exhaust side on the manifold.
My cousin has an S70 T5, and the 16t isn't the best in the low end, at least with the automatic. It isn't until you're moving and get up to 2500-3000 RPM that you really feel it. Then, it's a rocket!
Can't compare it to the 15g because I've never driven a 15g.
