Trial balloon, update on T5M value from offer JAN 2020

Post by abscate »

SWMBO and I are seriously considering the Volvo euro delivery plan for a new V60xC, in which case I will put the 1999 T5 on the sales block.

175k miles
Well maintained
High pressure T5 5 speed stick... :D :D :D :D :D
Everything works, minor cosmetic warts for a 1999

I'd like to get 3500 for her, is this realistic ? Willing to hold out for a year, no rush. Kids will drive her this summer if we don't sell.

A sane person would never pay that much for an old Volvo, so you'll have to sell it on a Volvo forum. Hit up Swedespeed and Volvospeed too. Tons of nerds out there who'd love a T5M. I found mine on Swedespeed.

I paid about that much for my 99 5-speed T5 wagon when it had just under 230,000 miles on it. Seller wanted 6k with his modifications, but was wailling to strip off most of them and sell them piecemeal. It has a fancy custom exhaust system - up to you if that makes it worth more or less - and I like the white color, which I guess is pretty uncommon. People weren't exactly jumping on the seller at that price, but I bought it from him within like a week of his posting it, and I think yours is probably more desirable.

My local guy still wants you T5 at this price three years later. I think I should up it, as obviously it’s even rarer now.

Clarifier. Elizabeth isn’t for sale. I tracked down that oil leak and still use her for Boston runs in that beautiful P80 seat, with blessed cool AC and toasty heat in winter on all 7 seats. She might be my first 300 k car

Talk to me when you hit 350K. You'll still want to keep her if your left knee can deal with the clutch.

Hilarious

I always say an item is worth what someone will pay for it. A dose of herceptin chemotherapy costs $42k.

Charge what you think it's worth or what it would be to replace it.

My wife would kill me if I spent more than $1200 on any p80 Volvo. But that's her. Someone who's a collector or a fan might have more disposable income and wouldn't want to part together a good car. I mean we all saw that R go for 12k last year.

I want to also add that each area has different values for cars. I live in the Midwest, cars are just cheaper here. Actually everything is cheaper here. We have an actual dollar menu at McDonald's
