Hello all,
Now that I have my car running (See post on Newbie Frustration) I replaced all of the deteriorated vacuum hoses on the engine. I replaced them one by one so that there would be no errors. I did not start the car for a few days and when I tried to start it, I had to crank it for about a minute or so before it fired up.
For the past few days, once I leave the car to get cold, I would have to crank and crank before it would start.
I am going to check my fuel pressure to see whether it is good. I have tried to prime the system, by cycling the ignition a few times to see whether it would start, but I am working blindly because I don't have a fuel pressure gauge to check. I will get one tomorrow.
I also saw that with the extended cranking when the car finally started the CEL stayed on. Yesterday, I disconnected the battery after the car warmed up and the check engine light stayed off all day.
This morning, after the extended cranking the CEL stayed on after the car started. Other than that the car runs and drives great.
Any ideas? I also need some specs to check my Coolant sensor. I will search around the forum for info in the meantime.

Usually an AWD fuel pump that causes this but I have heard of these do it too.
You may need to install an aftermarket fuel pump check valve
(Not hard and under $40, about an hour)

Next time it happens, jump the fuel relay (jumper wire on terminals 15 and 87), maybe the fuel relay is "lazy" when COLD.
Loss of residual fuel pressure can be caused by:
- Bad check valve in fuel pump, if you have more than 200K, then it is not a bad idea to buy a new fuel pump, search for Bosch 69693 and the posts by "Stephansvolvo".
- Leaky fuel injectors
- Bad fuel pressure regulator.

Could be bad engine coolant temperature sensor as well. Do yourself a favor and check the connector for corrosion and give it a good cleaning.

So, I purchased a Fuel Pressure Gauge and an OBD II Code reader.
Here are the results:
Fuel Pressure Gauge Connected: Key "ON" Pressure immediately @ 44 psi. Key "OFF" Left connected for about 2 hours, pressure maintained @ 44 psi
Conclusion? Fuel Pump and Relay Good.
OBD II: Code P0013- Camshaft Position Actuator Circuit/Open Bank 1
Cleared Code. Attempted to start car, Same prolonged cranking as expected. Car started. Check Engine light off.
Is the Camshaft Position Actuator for the VVT or the Camshaft Position Sensor.
Please explain this to me in layman's terms.
Is Bank 1 the exhaust camshaft? This the cam where I have the VVT and CPS attached. There is nothing on the intake cam.
Where do I go from here?
What do I check next, and how?
