Fuel Line plug into Fuel Rail leaking on 850T 1996

Post by kimothyanne »

Howdy all,
Yesterday I was trying to disconnect the fuel line in preparation of removing the fuel rail on my 850T. What ended up happening was that the part that plugs into the fuel rail came out.
I put it back in but whenever I try to start it fuel shoots all over the place.
Is there a gasket or some other method required to create the necessary seal?
Thank you,
kimberly

There should be an "O" ring on the round fitting that comes out of the fuel rail. Also there is a triangle part that secures the round fitting held on to the fuel rail with a screw.

Ah-ha! The "O" ring is still on it but there was no screw to be found. Also, the triangle part wasn't in the shape of a triangle any longer. Should I replace the "O" ring?
Thanks for your help.

Put in a new "O" ring. That triangle part keeps the round fitting from getting pushed out by fuel pressure.

Okay. For the life of me, I cannot find where the triangle part gets screwed/attached to. Is it on the fuel rail itself or elsewhere?
Thanks again.

You need to read the thread below, according to "jimmy57", if you are in a pinch, you can use Teflon tape, just make sure you apply Teflon on the threads only, don't allow the Teflon to inside the piping/fuel rail inner part:
