2001 XC70 AWD Canister Hose Woes

Post by deepsouth »

Hello All--
Okay, I've swapped evap hoses on 850's, V/S70's of all shapes and sizes but the 2001 XC70 AWD set-up is a new form of hell. The entire canister is completely inaccessible. Secondly, the standard J-Hose isn't the correct size. Apparently, I need this: Volvo part number 9155990.

Undeterred, I decided to attack this from above using my trusty Dremel tool. I cut a hole in the rear section on top of where the hose connects to the valve but am having difficulty accessing the J part from above--it appears to be reinforced steel with a hollowed section in between the top of the canister and the rear trunk area. Anyone tackled this PITA? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Here's where the hose attaches to valve:

Again, any help is appreciated as the J section of this hose is toast. I've gone to far to pull the rear suspension!

Eric
