Nor Cal weather doesn't usually require use of the rear wiper, but I recently had a long drive on gravel roads. When I flipped the slider on the steering column lever to clear the dust off the rear window, I heard a small thud, and no movement. I quickly turned it back off, and made my way home.
Despite the wiper control being in the "0" position, I noted I could still hear what sounded like a relay clicking when I pulled into the driveway. I removed the back panel (& noted it had been done before from the cracked interior lift-gate handle-frame and panel kit) removed the wiper motor, and found one of the 3 bolts securing the motor to the frame had loosened & jammed the drive arm (picture follows).
Although motor was warm, it still turned. I lubricated the post and applied blue thread locker to the 3 bolts that mount the motor to the frame.
Not sure how the bolt "walked" itself out. As for the clicking sound, I presume the motor was trying to finish a cycle and return to home position, but would welcome others' experience.
I'm in the market for a replacement plastic interior lift-gale handle frame. If anyone has a spare, please PM me with price.
