Battery warning light

My battery warning light comes on for a few seconds after shutdown. The alternator is all good and the battery is brand new

That's probably an alternator fault or a ground ( earth) fault somewhere. There are many earths on these cars and they do go bad.

When the engine doesn't turn, alternator doesn't produce voltage.

There is a cut-out switch in the alternator that has to open when the engine is turned off on most cars, I don't know Volvo specifically in this regard, though.

Check battery cables
Check ALL grounds - there are a lot of them.
Even if alternator is putting out good current, you might need to replace it, or if you are good with electrics, disassemble and replace brushes/switches/rectifier - or send it to a good electric shop.
