After replacing the m46 gearbox on my 1991 940 I noticed that the gear positions had moved to the right. The reverse lockout does not work anymore, and the L-shaped reverse lock plate can not be adjusted far enough. 3d and 4th gear are also hard to engage. I have replaced the 2 lower plastic bushing with o-ring on the shifter.
Any suggestions appreciated.

boost shifter for the m46 broke today
Solved!
The car has been sitting for a while....
The donor transmission shifter bracket part #1 (picture) looked a little bent (did not put this on the car), and I had not replaced the gear selector shaft #6.
Procedure:
1. Remove distributor cap+rotor (16valve eng.) 3x8mm bolts, eliminating damage by hitting firewall.
2. Put transmission in neutral, release parking brake.
3. Remove shifter rubber bellows 4x10mm bolts and snap ring #23
4. Raise car (car lift preferred)
5. Remove drive shaft bolt/nuts 4x 15/17mm, lower drive shaft front end.
6. Loosen set screw #41 and remove spindle #9
7. Disconnect wire harness (4-pin connector on drivers side on transmission).
8. Support transmission with transmission jack
9.Remove transmission crossmember (4x 14mmbolts), lower transmission (exhaust pipe will limit this).
10. Disconnect remaining wire harness on transmission.
11. Remove bracket #1 (4x14mm).
12. Replace BENT gear selector shaft #6 by pushing gear selector joint #10 forward, remove pin #13.
13.Reassemble in opposite order.
14.Done
