Possibly but we will need more info to try to diagnose from afar!

I assume the noise is only there when you the car is moving and coasting, or is it there all the time and you can only hear it when you are coasting?

Are you 100% sure that it is not there when the car is at rest? This will help identify the likelihood of engine/trans/driveline issues.

If you can record the noise and post that may also help.

Neil.

Hey neil, 100% sure its not there when at rest, will try to capture audio later on. Just checked under hood and everything seems a-ok, power steering could use a top off.

You can turn the engine off when coasting to ascertain if its an engine vs driveline issue.

You can slip the trans into neutral to tell if its in the trans

Im guessing driveshaft or wheel bearing. Moaning is more like wheel bearing sound. If it is in the front, then gently swerving back on forth on BQE at 0300 hours might confirm its a front wheel bearing and which side is bad, too.

Hmmm- more of a hum than a bearing noise, which is a whir or a drone. The frequency is too high....almost sounds like a truck braking to a stop type noise.

Absolutely, a few friends have expressed little concern, thoughts are more along the lines of "maybe some panel is rubbing" or "maybe its a belt" - not seeing any signs of either.

Not afraid to bring it into a shop, i just dont have a trusted mechanic in NYC yet(bought this car 3 weeks ago and havent owned a car in the 9 years ive lived in new york) - i just dont wanna get the run around
